Welcome to Saturday’s Strategic Soiree! Get ready for a full day of board gaming fun, from the moment you arrive until late into the evening.
Bring your best mates, your significant other, or even your long-lost cousin – and definitely bring some games! Whether you’re looking to dive into a sprawling epic or just want to learn a quick new card game, there will be plenty of friendly faces eager to teach and play. No prior experience needed; we all started somewhere!
Our well-stocked tuck shop will be open all day to keep you fueled. As our Saturday sessions run over dinner, we encourage folks to bring their own food, or we can coordinate group orders from local takeaways. Just remember: keep those game components clean – no greasy fingerprints on the meeples!
To help cover the costs of our fantastic venue, we kindly ask for a contribution of £6 per person. This helps us keep these awesome events going!

We care about inclusive, safe and happy gaming spaces and as such we have a Code of Conduct which we expect all Club Members and guests to abide by. This is applicable to both the events and the online space surrounding them (Facebook page, Meetup and events, and any other online or social media spaces).
Please be courteous and respectful to one another. Every person has an equal right to game and to enjoy the St Albans Board Games Club events. Please take particular note of preferred pronouns, respect for accessibility needs, the right of individuals to use whichever toilet they wish. Respecting the Equality Act 2010 and other legal standings of the UK.
Please be aware that some people are new to gaming, or like to play different games than you. Consider if your behaviour could be interpreted as dismissive, intimidating or off-putting to other attendees to the club. Everyone is welcome at St Albans Board Games Club, whatever their level of experience or commitment to gaming. Only offer advice if it is wanted or asked for. If in doubt please speak to a Host or a committee member if any issues arise.
Our venues are not licensed to serve alcohol, drinking of Alcohol is only allowed to those over the age of 18 and only if they drink responsibly, All Alcohol drunk at our venues must be brought from an off-licensed and reputable retailer. Drinking is not synonymous with fun and people may choose not to drink for a variety of valid reasons personal to them. Alcohol is not an excuse for loud, aggressive or inappropriate behaviour.
All games are owned by club members and are the personal responsibility of their owners. If damage to a board game should occur by personal irresponsible actions then it is the responsibility for the person who caused the damage to make amends up to and including replacements or other reparations. It is highly recommend that all open drinks are kept away from areas where spillages can occur.
St Albans Board Games Club is open to all people including family groups. It is expected that all Members behave in a polite and family friendly manner at all times. Foul language will not be tolerated in the presence for those under the age of 16. There is a zero tolerance for discriminating or sexist language at any time.
Everyone has a right to enjoy their hobby in a safe and non-sexual environment, and no-one should be sexualised without their consent. Remarks about gender, sexuality and any kind of touching without consent are not acceptable or respectful. Take your lead from the person themselves and listen if someone tells you – with words or body language – that they are uncomfortable. Apologise if you have crossed a line.
Aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated and could lead to expulsion from the Club. The Host of the session will have the final say on what is acceptable and has the right to ask members to leave the session at anytime.
We recognise that everyone makes mistakes and that sometimes pointing them out can feel uncomfortable and challenging, which is why in the first instance we will attempt where appropriate to respond with a quiet conversation or private message. We are all trying, and we all care about making St Albans Board Games Club an excellent community to be part of.
